A step sideways for the label or maybe not. Moving Backwards is an album of sparse, meditative solo piano. This might not directly sound like the ambient and drone space Geology has often walked in the past number of years, but is unquestionably of a similar mindset and works in a very similar way.

It often seems that the Earth itself is screaming out for us to slow down and reflect. The sounds on this album almost demand it and although listening in any way is rewarding, try giving it a deep listen on good headphones. You'll be happy you did.

And don't forget to slow down.

Artist statement—

My music tends to be slow and quiet. Often it develops very slowly. I am interested in expressing individual moments in my music by attempting to stretch them out.

I draw inspiration from the stillness of nature, but also its gradual change. You could stand in the woods for hours and observe very little change. Time seems to slow down. But if you could stand there for six months, it would change drastically. I’m interested in how nature seems to have a different perception of time than humans.
